Digital marketing for Hertfordshire businesses, built around who decides.
We’re based in Essex, and we’ve already done real work in this county: we researched, wrote and built the Mr Gates website in Berkhamsted. When it helps to meet, we set a date and David comes to you.

DC Digital is an Essex-based digital marketing business that works with Hertfordshire firms as part of its UK-wide work. Our services are websites, SEO, Google Ads, social media, paid social and SendIQ. SendIQ is our outbound service: it finds and approaches the companies most likely to buy, and the specifiers who influence them. Our work in the county includes the Mr Gates website in Berkhamsted. Meetings happen at your premises or by video call, because we don’t keep an office open to visitors.
Work we’ve already done in the county
Mr Gates and MG Group · Berkhamsted
One business with two brands, working across gates, barriers and architectural metalwork. We researched, wrote and built mrgates.co.uk, which launched in September 2026, and we’ve run the business’s social media, outreach campaigns and SEO. For MG Group we refined the brand and worked out who could buy or specify its work, separating direct customers from the specifiers, influencers and referral partners around them. MG Group’s own website was designed by another agency.
| Client | Where | What we can say |
|---|---|---|
| Mr Gates and MG Group | Berkhamsted | Website researched, written and built; social media, outreach campaigns and SEO; brand refined; buyers and specifiers worked out. |
| NJG Building Solutions | Welwyn Garden City | We managed all their social media and created their content. |
No figures here, because we only publish results we’ve checked. Most of our clients are in Essex; for every written-up case study, see our work page.
A county of advisers as well as builders
In March 2026 the county council area had 62,835 VAT or PAYE registered businesses, and 91% of them employed fewer than 10 people. What stands out is the mix. Professional, scientific and technical firms (accountants, lawyers, consultants, architects, engineers and the like) are the largest group at 18.6%, ahead of construction at 16.6%. Both are above the England shares of 15.9% and 14.1%.
The balance shifts by district. St Albans leans heavily towards advisers; Broxbourne leans heavily towards building.
| Area | Businesses | Construction | Professional, scientific and technical |
|---|---|---|---|
| St Albans | 8,245 | 11.5% | 25.7% |
| Dacorum (includes Berkhamsted) | 8,145 | 17.6% | 18.8% |
| Welwyn Hatfield | 5,235 | 17.7% | 16.5% |
| Broxbourne | 4,535 | 25.1% | 12.1% |
| County council area | 62,835 | 16.6% | 18.6% |
| England | 2,423,150 | 14.1% | 15.9% |

Who decides what gets built
On a building project, the firm that pays you is often not the one that chose you. An architect writes you into a specification, a quantity surveyor prices the job, a developer signs it off. The same ONS count puts 355 architectural practices, 215 quantity surveying firms and 1,290 businesses developing building projects in the county. That’s about 3.4 quantity surveying firms per 1,000 businesses, against 2.1 across England (our calculation).
That’s the problem we worked on with MG Group: separating the people who buy from the people who specify, influence and refer the work, then setting out how to find the companies in each group. For a building trade business here, it usually means two things. Your website needs pages a specifier can use, not just a homeowner. And it’s worth approaching those firms directly rather than waiting for them to find you.
There’s building still to come. Hemel Garden Communities, a partnership of Dacorum Borough Council, St Albans City and District Council and the county council, aims to create around 11,000 new homes and 10,000 new jobs by 2050.

Our services, and what changes in this county
Finding customers
SendIQ outbound
Inbound marketing waits to be found. SendIQ builds a list of the companies that fit, from main contractors to the practices that write your kind of work into a specification, and contacts the people in them who make the decision.
Attracting customers
SEO
Showing up when people search for what you do. When we checked a county marketing search in October 2026, directory listings sat above the map results, so a complete, active Google Business Profile and accurate directory entries are worth getting right alongside your website. We never use a made-up address to get you into the map.
Google Ads
Campaigns limited to the parts of the county you can actually cover, and measured by the cost of each genuine enquiry, not the number of clicks. Ad spend is separate and paid to Google.
Social media and paid social
Finished jobs make the most convincing posts, so we photograph and film your projects ourselves and turn them into regular content. Paid social puts that work in front of people who don’t follow you yet.
Converting customers
Website design
Our web design work in the county starts with mrgates.co.uk: planned around what customers search for, written for each kind of visitor, then built on WordPress to turn visits into enquiries. WordPress websites from £999 plus VAT, one off.

Yes. That’s the kind of work we did for MG Group: separating direct customers from the specifiers, influencers and referral partners, and setting out how to find each group, and we’ve run outreach campaigns for the business too. SendIQ approaches the firms that fit. See also marketing for construction firms.
